Meet Kori
Founder of Branch Out Advising
Kori Behler came to independent college advising after years in education in the K-12 and college setting.
She has completed the UCLA Certificate in College Advising and launched Branch Out to help students navigate the college selection process in a way that helps them consider their unique needs and best parameters for success.
Kori has an MA in Special Education, a CA k-12 credential, is a Certified Educational Therapist, and a Disability Specialist at Santa Rosa Junior College. In 2004, she founded Wise Owl Learning, a private tutoring center serving students with Dyslexia, ADHD, and other educational needs.
Kori’s experience spans k-12 and college
20+
years working in education
5
degrees + specialized certifications focused on education
15+
years working with students with learning disabilities

When Kori isn’t working with students, you can find her exploring the outdoors in Northern California.
One of her favorite ways to rejuvenate is to spend time at The Sea Ranch with her husband and dogs. They also love being in Sonoma County with their family and friends, where they’ve both lived most of their lives.
She has yet to grow tired of all the opportunities in the area for running, swimming, kayaking, or rummaging through thrift stores and flea markets.
“Kori has the ability to quickly connect with others and this enables her to discover the needs and wants of each individual.
She understands that each student is unique and needs to find a university that fits their academic, social and personal needs. She is organized, thorough and most importantly patient and kind.”
Amy Merkel, Director of Transfer Center, Santa Rosa Junior College
